This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Ts2 on a windows 10 gaming laptop - resolution troubles!
So for nostalgia's sake, and because I keep reading TS2 legacies, I've fairly recently started buying all the games again (I missed out on ultimate collection as I still had the full set in disc form and didn't watch any simmers or frequent sims blogs at that point other than the legacy challenge pages on livejournal. Anyway. Long story short I have the game on my MSi gaming laptop. It runs windows 10 and plays the game beautifully... mostly. The problem arises when it comes to the resolution it's decided it runs in... which is not the resolution of any device *I* have ever played TS2 on to memory, but I digress.

Does anyone know how I can forcibly change the resolution? My laptop's resolution is 1920x1080.
The resolution the game wants to run at is 800x600 and there are no other resolution options (I have an image it just doesn't want to upload to photobucket.

You need to change the graphics rules thing, which was somewhere on Leefish

Make sure along with the graphic rules you also get the 4GBt patch and possibly tweak the memory. More details in the sticky thread http://db.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=610641 The Sims 2 is an old game and it needs some help with new technology. Basically, your laptop is too up to date. :D

This program : https://www.simsnetwork.com/tools/graphics-rules-maker

or, if it does not work (because for some reason it does not work on all systems)

Leefish here: http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446 and here: http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=6569

Find the file for your graphics card - although the first thread is not for Windows 10, that is where I found mine (Nvidia).

Keep copies - if you have to do a repair in future, your game will be intact, but you may have to do the graphic rules again (it is quick to do once you know what you have to do).

I also recommend the 4GB patch.
