Default Custom Career and Ocean Animation
Has anyone been genius enough to create a custom self employed Artist career that combines earnings from selling paintings, sculptures and/or inventions?

My current sims LTW is to be a descendant of da vinci so it would be great to be able to have a career that compliments it entirely instead of having to choose only one specialism at a time.

If one hasn't been created, would it be possible? how difficult would it be and are there any good tutorials available as i'd be willing to give it a shot

Also... is there a way to turn off ocean animations or slow it down when playing at the higher game play speeds (3-4)?
I'm currently playing Isla Paradiso and due to suffering with vertigo I have to look away from the screen because of the ocean animation

Nraas has a Careers mod (https://www.nraas.net/community/Careers), which has a Self Employed module (https://www.nraas.net/community/Careers-SelfEmployed).
The SelfEmployed module includes a Collecting career for selling gems, rocks, insects, etc.
Maybe you can edit the mod's XML to add paintings, sculptures, and inventions to that list? Or just add a new Artist self-employed career?

There's also the Savvy Seller's set at the Store, if you've got the loot for it (its part of getting Midnight Hollow). If your sim is an artist, you could set up all their easels of work on the seller's rugs, and make an art gallery of sorts with a register, so that sims can buy their work that way.

If you mean the ocean wave effects, then those can only be removed in CAW. The water surface has slight movement to it that can't be removed at all, not even in CAW. I haven't heard a way to slow them down or turn them off in game and someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think it's possible. Or maybe - if possible at all - by changing the wave effects speed properties in the files... but that would still have no effect to the movement of the ocean itself.

The Sea.ini file contains parameters for this; I changed the sea speed and direction of flow in some of my worlds.

Oh, that's good to know. Thank you.
