Default Dark Spots on Hair
Hello all!

So, I've improved a bit since my last post. I have been working on a toddler hair style. It's a conversion from the Showtime expansion Performer hairstyle called af_hat_hair_e_p6_performer or something like that. I have done the mesh, and followed as many tutorials as I can find. The hair loads into TSR Workshop, and Milkshape looking fine.

In CAS things start to fall apart a bit. It's got some strange patterns in it and reflects light oddly. I've done my best with it over the last couple days, but I'm starting to run out of ideas and research.

I made a https://xginne.blogspot.com/ where I am hosting all the images and updates with what I have done so far.

I appreciate any help I can get.

Does it also look like that in play mode? Shading tends to get screwed up in CAS if you have overlapping UVs.

That's true! But this could also be caused by a few other things. The game itself is super anal on what settings the hair mesh has to have.

In Milkshape, there are a few things you could do (make sure though you have these plugins: http://modthesims.info/t/357403 and http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=139859:

- Select the entire mesh
- Vertex > align normals

(NOTE: If this makes the hair appear black and such, then use Tools > Model Cleaner and click no on all popups)

- Then, go to Vertex > Sims 3 extra data tool
- Put in all the boxes 255 255 255 255

That should fix it!

For TSRW, you also need to make sure that all values return nothing:

- Go to the Mesh tab
- In the mesh tab, make sure in Group 0 you click on "mesh". This should show a 3 dotted button, that's the button you want to have
- In the popup, select GEOM Vertices editor and then open
- Select a value in the Tagvalue cell, and make this FFFFFFFF
- Then, right click on the value you just changed, and click "Copy to all"

AH HA! See, I read in several places to do this, but the steps were out of order!

She's so happy! I need to do something about the overlapping UV maps still.

Do you know of a tutorial that can point me in the right direction?
