Default What's the best way to select this swimsuit with the color square pattern?
I actually had already figured it out already but I was having a tough time trying to select this swimsuit with the color square pattern with the quick selection tool. Any tips on the best ways to select it?

Depends on what you're planning to do. Best way would probably be to mark it with the square marker and then use either that marker or the lasso (polygon lasso, not round) to deselect any items you don't want. Various combinations of ctrl+alt+shift lets you deselect parts or select more (I can never remember which ones do what, though - I kind of have it set to auto in my fingers...).

Good luck on the shadows, though - you may need to copy and edit those from another set of shorts, or maybe the bump if you're lucky.

From square marker did you mean the rectangular marquee tool and where could I find the shadows because I couldn't find any?

Yes, the rectangular tool
(technically, a square is a rectangle, I just mixed up the words a little. I need PS open to remember the exact names of the tools, which is probably weird since I've used Photoshop for nearly 15 years...)

Shadows - I think you'd have to borrow some off another mesh (desaturate and use as overlay, possibly with a little bit of editing to make it look okay), because there's pretty much no way to get proper shadows otherwise, unless you want to hand-draw them. I did mention using the bump map, but those can be a bit iffy, and are occasionally somewhat inversed, so it depends on the project. There are several tutorials on how to do this, and I think there's one in the Bodyshop section.

Thanks, what would I need to use the shadows for and what purpose do they serve?

Definition of the item. Otherwise it's just going to be a floodfill color/pattern, which rarely looks any good.

Thank you very much. I could tell that you had been doing this kind of stuff for a long time because you know what to do,what the problems are and you're good at it.
