Gender Preference

Each Sim (except brand new Create-A-Sim ones) has a set gender preference that is defined by the averaged total of all their romantic interactions with other Sims. If the majority of your Sim's romantic interactions have been with females, they will have the female gender preference, and vice-versa. This can be changed over time though, if you have a female preferenced Sim who does enough romantic interactions with male Sims, over time she may become preferenced toward males.

Setting gender preference is vital because your Sim will autonomously act out Attraction only to Sims that fit their gender preference. Sims of the opposite preference will not even register with your Sim, for example, if your male preferenced Sim Scopes the Room, no females will be considered, no matter how high the attraction. A Sim must have an established gender preference to Scope the Room, so Sims fresh out of CAS will need to have a romantic interaction with the gender of their choice before this option will become available.

  • The easiest way to set gender preference is to locate a Sim of the desired gender and do a low-level Flirt interaction with them (Check Sim Out, Wolf Whistle, etc.). Once this has been done, whether the interaction is accepted or not, the gender preference is set.
