Default How to create a custom openable item containing specific foods when opened? (Purchasable in buy mode)
Hi everyone, thanks for reading. I'm new to mod creation and I appreciate any help/suggestions I can get!

I'd like to make a pet food mod!

I've got some pet food cans objects (custom content) that I'd like to:

- make openable (have the "open" interaction on them).
- contain 3 homemade/gourmet pet foods (one type of can for cats and another for dogs) that gets served into pet bowl
- purchasable in buy mode
- can be placed in Sim's inventory and in the world
- can be created via the canning system (example: 1 meat item makes 1 pet food can, which is then placed in Sim's inventory).

Further down the line, I'd like to add purchasable cat litter item as a requirement to be in Sim's inventory to enable changing the cat litter.
But for now, I'd like to focus on making the pet food cans functional as a container which contains homemade pet food/gourmet pet food.

Would this be a possibility?
I've customised hats and T-shirts in Sims 4 studio, and made patterns for Sims 3 but that's pretty much the extent of my mod creation journey so far.
Please forgive my lack of knowledge - I am eager to learn!

Thanks again for your time and your help! :D

A great place to start with TS4 modding is to reverse-engineer things that already work in a similar way, or existing mods that have functionality you think you could use.

SrslySims' creations come to mind when I think of bulk food items that can be opened to get a stack of ingredients. The groceries from her cooking overhaul would be a great place to start, opening them in S4S and seeing how they were made.
She also has some tutorials, the recipe one is great just for getting familiar with XML modding in general even if you aren't working with recipes just yet https://srslysims.net/tutorials/
'Recipe Tuning' is also what all craftable things ingame use, so it isn't restricted to food!

If there is anything in the game already that you'd like to replicate the function of, then there is the https://tdesc.lot51.cc/ TDESC Builder which can take a peek at any and all of the EA tuning files + documentation for what each value means.

Scribe of tutorials. Oracle of questions at NRaas. Blog staller at thecardinalsims. Feel free to @ me for input on any TS3/TS4 modding questions.

Thank you so much! That's really helpful!
Yeah, Srslysims grocery items that open to give multiple portions is exactly the style I want to make it, spot on.
I'll be sure to check out her tutorials, thanks again for your speedy response, the links and all your suggestions, I truly appreciate it!
