Default Flat cap/Ivy cap/cloth cap (think "Newsies", "Peaky Blinders" or "The Sting")
Basically, I'm trying to create the world of "Last of the Summer Wine", which in case you're not familiar involves lots of tweed jackets and "flat caps" worn by generations of men (and quite a few women as well) from the 1890s forward. The lord of the manor wears one when he's out shooting grouse, and so do the stable hands when they're shoveling horse manure. Why not any for the Sims? Okay, since the advent of "Boardwalk Empire" and "Peaky Blinders", there's been a slew of sims with these tweedy hats, created for the newer versions of the game, and actually there's a passable such cap included in TS2 base game hairstyles, but in solid, odd colors, and only on the female side. (Why the game creators didn't allow for all hats to be wearable by all genders of sim is a mystery - human HEADS are all pretty much the same shape, even if bodies aren't...) The colors don't interest me as much as the shape... It's not a beret. It's not a baseball hat. A flat cap, an Ivy cap, a newsboy, a "fat apple", a cabbie hat. ANYHOW, what I'm looking for is one of these. I've seen a similar request from a few years back, with semi-disappointing results, so I thought I'd give it a new shot. If anyone has a link to a working source for such hats, that will work for TS2, please help me out. Thanks much!

This will probably go under the " semi-disappointing results" header , or worse lol, but they are the only ones I'm aware of that somewhat meet your description.
https://web.archive.org/web/2017060...com/hats_5.html , there are some on pages 5, 6 and 7. The DeditalSheep meshes for all the ones that require those meshes are all included in the " Dirty Cap" download found on page 6.

The closest I could find was Yandereplum's Like Old Newspaper, which is a recolor of the AL cap made into an accessory by Trapping. I couldn't find anything about requirements, though, so not sure what EPs are required. You can try it and see if it works for you. (I'm guessing you don't have AL, as the paperboy hat might be okay for you?) And there's also Callum91's Man's FatHat and there's a bunch of recolors of that:

(There are a couple of more recolors; I picked out the most old-timey looking ones.)

Anyway, TheNinthWave did make the BG Berets as Accessories. It's not layerable, but you can edit that in SimPE (instructions are here or here). It's for ladies, though you could recategorize that, too.

Otherwise there are some hairs with caps (mostly for ladies):

You could also make a request (at Garden of Shadows, or on tumblr, directly to a creator that accepts requests) to enable or convert a hair for you.

Stumbled on this while looking for something else. Tumblr says it’s a “ghost post” but the download appears to be live.
